RE: National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

In recent days, it has been confirmed that CUPE Local 79 Sister Zahra Mahamoud Abdille and her two children lost their lives to another senseless act of domestic violence.

A recent study on how domestic abuse affects the workplace, from the Canadian Labour of Congress, shows how prevalent the issue is.

With the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women only two days away, we must acknowledge the role that gender-based violence plays in these all too common incidents of domestic violence.
